Biography
Mónica Pinto is a Professor of International Law and Human Rights Law at the University of Buenos Aires Law School where she is currently the Dean. She has been visiting professor at Columbia Law School, Paris I & II, Rouen; has taught at the Hague Academy on International Law, at the European and Inter-American Institutes on Human Rights. Ms. Pinto serves as Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers for the UN Human Rights Council. By the past she has held mandates on the situation of human rights in Guatemala and Chad for the UN. She is a member of the Advisory Committee on Nominations for the International Criminal Court. She sits at the administrative tribunals of the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. She has appeared before different human rights bodies, arbitral tribunals and the International Court of Justice in different capacities, as a counsel, as an expert and as an arbitrator. Ms. Pinto is an Associate Member of the Institut de droit international and is affiliated to the American, the French and the European Societies of International Law as well as to the International Law Association and the Argentine Council on International Relations.
